Helping You Take Care of Yourself and Your Family.
I am many things. Health Coach. Blogger. Lawyer. Writer. Wife to John. Mother to Sarah. Doggie-mom to Emily and Samantha. Daughter to Richard and Lucy. Sister to Jennifer. Friend to many great people. Colleague. And Over-Achiever. These are some of the hats that I wear, and I like them all, for many different reasons.
Broadly speaking, everything I do — as a health coach, blogger, lawyer, and writer – helps people take care of themselves and their families.

More About Me: My path to my present place in life has been circuitous, but (I think) interesting. I was born in Japan, grew up in Mississippi, spent a short amount of time on the west coast, and have been in the New York City metro area for the past 15 years. I graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1995 with a B.A. as a double-major in art and musical theatre. After a short jaunt as a graphic designer at a major corporation, I pursued an acting career for three years. Then I decided to do something totally different: I attended Brooklyn Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 2003. While practicing law in Manhattan at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and received my certification as a Health Coach from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I founded my health coaching practice — The Nourishing Balance — in 2006 and started this blog in 2009. In November 2011, I opened The Law Office of Jamie J. Spannhake, Esq., serving clients in New York and Connecticut.
